Abstract:
Transition metal complexes, owing to their multiple coordination and activation properties, offer excellent opportunities for the development of novel catalytic cycloaddition and cyclization processes using non-activated C-C unsaturated substrates such as alkynes, allenes or alkenes.
In this presentation, I will provide a brief overview of some of our recent results in this field, with an special emphasis on cyclization processes based on Ir-catalyzed activation of C-H bonds, as well as on enantioselective cycloaddition processes catalysed by gold(I) complexes. Finally, we will also describe the application of one of these transition-metal catalyzed annulations to the enantioselective synthesis of a biologically relevant sesquiterpene natural product.
