Future Scientist Award

4. Composition of the Jury

The jury of the cicCartuja Dissemination Award will be composed of four prestigious scientists belonging to cicCartuja: three researchers representing each of the Institutes that make up cicCartuja (the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis, the Institute of Chemical Research and the Institute of Materials Science of Seville), in addition to the Director of cicCartuja, or the person he/she delegates, who will act as president.

Basis

1. Objetives

The cicCartuja aims to recognize science outreach projects carried out by students from Secondary and Baccalaureate schools participating in the Seville Science Fair, to encourage scientific vocations, with the following specific objectives:

To promote interest and skill in scientific research.
To highlight and favor talented young people, their teachers and their centers, publicizing their achievements and encouraging them to continue their interest and participation in the field of science and technology.
Broaden the horizons of students with an interest in, or vocation for, scientific research by bringing them closer to the scientific, industrial, business and institutional communities.
To foster appreciation and recognition for the scientific and technological sector in Andalusia.

2. Endowment of the Prize

A prize of 600 € will be awarded to the best science outreach project presented at the stands of the Seville Science Fair 2022 by the students of secondary schools and two runners-up prizes of 300 €. A check for the value of the prize will be made payable to the school, for activities and/or educational material for the winning groups, at the discretion of the project coordinators.

Students will also be invited to present their projects to cicCartuja scientists and the general public during the Future Scientists Day, held during Science Week in November 2022.

3. Selection of the awarded projects

The jury of the cicCartuja Outreach Award will evaluate the Science Fair projects according to the following criteria:

a) Originality and scientific and social relevance of the project.

b) Quality of the contents.

c) Scientific rigor.

d) Creativity and informative capacity.

The overall rating of the projects will be made by calculating the average of the scores obtained in the four previous sections, with values between 1 and 10.

The jury will evaluate a priori the project delivered to the organizers of the Science Fair and, in situ, its realization at the stand, on the first day of the Fair.

4. Composición del jurado

El jurado del Premio de Divulgación cicCartuja estará compuesto por cuatro científicos de prestigio pertenecientes al cicCartuja: tres investigadores que representarán a cada uno de los Institutos que se integran el cicCartuja (el Instituto de Bioquímica Vegetal y Fotosíntesis, el Instituto de Investigaciones Químicas y el Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Sevilla), además del Director del cicCartuja, o persona en quien delegue, que actuará como presidente.
