Description of the service
The Biological Culture Service is a service offered by cicCartuja, but it is directed and advised by the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF).
This service is mainly oriented to the cultivation, for scientific research purposes, of photosynthetic organisms, such as eukaryotic algae and cyanobacteria. To this end, it has a series of collections of these organisms that it makes available to the scientific community in general. In addition, the service provides members of the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF) with competent cell samples of various strains of the enterobacterium Escherichia coli for use in molecular biology tasks.
On the other hand, the Service is in charge of managing the maintenance of equipment used in the growth and maintenance of living organisms, such as cyanobacteria, microalgae and plant culture chambers, incubators-stirrers, ultrafreezers, etc.
