The scientists awarded in the 2017 edition have been:

Winner: Laura Ortega-Moreno, from the Institute of Chemical Research (IIQ), is awarded for her studies on the mechanisms of bond formation in order to develop more sustainable reactions catalyzed by transition metals.

First Accesit: Alberto Rodriguez-Gómez, from the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS), received first prize for his studies on the characterization of cobalt catalysts with the aim of developing more environmentally friendly hydrogen production reactions.

Second Accesit: Miguel Anaya Martín (ICMS) and Alejandra Guerra Castellano (IIQ), share the second prize for obtaining quantum-confined perovskites with highly efficient emission for the development of LEDs, and for proposing a novel target for more effective cancer treatments, respectively.
