The scientists awarded in the 2015 edition have been:

Winner: María Fernández-Espada, from the Institute of Chemical Research (IIQ), wins the first prize for the unprecedented study of organometallic compounds, key to the development of gold’s catalytic potential.

Methyl-, Ethenyl-, and Ethynyl-Bridged Cationic Digold Complexes Stabilized by Coordination to a Bulky Terphenylphosphine Ligand

Primer Accesit: Miguel Anaya Martín, from the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS), who has designed more attractive colored solar cells from perovskite compounds.

Highly Efficient Perovskite Solar Cells with Tuneable Structural Color

Second Accesit: Juan Carlos Muñoz García, also from IIQ, obtained second prize with a work on the interaction between the biomolecules langerin and heparin, effective as natural barriers against the entry of viruses such as HIV into our body.

Langerin–Heparin Interaction: Two Binding Sites for Small and Large Ligands As Revealed by a Combination of NMR Spectroscopy and Cross-Linking Mapping Experiments
