The decision of the Jury, which this year celebrates its thirteenth edition, and which met this morning in cicCartuja, is now known.
After the corresponding deliberation, it has agreed to award the following prizes:
First Prize to Javier Castillo Seoane from the ICMS
First Runner-up Prize to Pedro de los Reyes from the IBVF
Second Runner-up Prize ex aequo to Marina Pérez and Helena Corona, both from the IIQ
The winning work corresponds to the “article of the month” of April 2022 and the runner-ups to November, January and September respectively. All of them have been published in journals with high impact indices.
Javier Castillo’s work has turned out to be the winner for his study of a pioneering method in the sustainable and design-based synthesis of one of the most booming optoelectronic materials currently, organometallic halide petrovskites, essential in solar energy.
Winner of the cicCartuja Ebro Foods Award 2022
First runner-up prize for Pedro de los Reyes
Second ex aequo runner-up prize for Marina Pérez and Helena Corona
The “cicCartuja-Ebro Foods” Award recognises the work carried out by young researchers under 31 years of age, who have previously published scientific articles in prestigious international journals, in areas such as chemistry, biochemistry or materials science. Since 2011, the Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Centre (cicCartuja) and the Ebro Foods Foundation have awarded these prizes to promote the career of young researchers working at cicCartuja – a joint centre of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Andalusian Regional Government and the University of Seville.
In this edition, the Prize is worth 20,000 euros, of which 10,000 euros are for the winner, 5,000 euros for the first runner-up and another 5,000 euros for the second runner-up. These amounts have been donated by the Ebro Foods Foundation, which – through its president, Antonio Hernández Callejas – has been supporting the scientific excellence of young researchers at cicCartuja and the transfer of knowledge from the laboratory to society.
