The researcher Tomás Ramírez Reina has received the Losada Villasante Award for Research in Circular Economy.
Tomás Ramírez is a researcher at the Institute of Materials Science of Seville and a professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Seville. In addition, he is a visiting professor at HUST University (China), the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics (DICP, China) and the University of Surrey (UK) where he founded the Catalysis Unit in 2016 and has been a Professor for five years.
His work ‘Gold nanocatalysts for the production of green hydrogen: Towards a sustainable energy model’ has been awarded in this 10th Edition of the Awards. This research focuses on the development of nano-catalysts for the production of green hydrogen using bio-waste as a starting material (for example, agricultural waste), representing an advance in the circular economy, where waste is converted into a valuable energy vector. The hydrogen produced could be used in zero-emission vehicles, contributing to the decarbonisation of transport, which highlights the fundamental role of catalytic technologies in the fight against climate change and the transition towards a circular and sustainable energy model.
This is not the first of the awards that Tomás has received for his magnificent career. He was also recently awarded by FISIOCAT.
