Xabier García Casas has been the winner of the cicCartuja Ebro Foods award for 2021, which is now in its twelfth edition.
For the first time, three second prizes have been awarded. The first prize has been awarded to Marina Pérez Jiménez, from the Institute of Chemical Research (IIQ), the second prize has been awarded to Lola Azancot Luque from the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS) and the third prize has been awarded to Raquel García Cañas, from the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis.
These awards recognise the work carried out by young researchers under 31 years of age who have previously published scientific articles in prestigious international journals related to areas such as Chemistry, Biochemistry or Materials Science. The award ceremony took place last Friday, May 20, in the auditorium of the Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Centre (cicCartuja).
The event was attended by authorities from the world of science and the university environment, as well as from industry and local, regional and national politics. Among them, Rosa Mª Ríos, general secretary of universities, research and technology of the Ministry of Economic Transformation, Knowledge, Industry, Knowledge and Universities of the Junta de Andalucía; Margarita Paneque, institutional delegate of the CSIC in Andalusia; Julián Martínez Fernández, vice-rector of research at the University of Seville; Antonio Muñoz Martínez, mayor of the Seville City Council and of course Antonio Hernández Callejas, president of Ebro Foods.
