Jesús Campos, decorated by the Young Academy of Spain

On November 25, the solemn ceremony of the Awarding of Medals to the new Full Academicians of the Young Academy of Spain was held, the first occasion since its creation that this ceremony is commemorated in which some of the most important young researchers in our country are distinguished.

Since the birth of the Academy in 2019, 30 researchers have joined it, all outstanding in fields that encompass the main branches of knowledge. One of them was Jesús Campos, from the Institute of Chemical Research and principal investigator of the Organometallic Chemistry Group: Structure, Reactivity and Applications (QUIMERA).

The opening of the event was given by Prof. Dr. Javier García Martínez, President of the Young Academy of Spain, one of its founding Academicians. Later, the welcome was given by Mr. Antonio L. Doadrio Villarejo, President of the Royal National Academy of Pharmacy and Mr. Jesús María Sanz Serna, President of the Institute of Spain and President of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences.

After this, the Academic Secretary of the corporation, Prof. Dr. Javier Martínez Moguerza, summarized the activities that the Academy has carried out since its creation and then the medal presentation ceremony took place, where Dr. Cristina Blanco Sío-López and Prof. Dra. Estrella Díaz Sánchez gave a speech on behalf of their colleagues about their vision of the contribution of the Young Academy to the advancement of science in Spain.
