Irene Díaz Moreno, Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Seville, research professor and member of the Institute of Chemical Research, has recently been appointed member of the Education Committee of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB).
The mission of the IUBMB is to promote and support the growth and advancement of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as the basis on which the biomolecular sciences that derive their basic ideas and techniques for the service of humanity are based. Irene Díaz, as one of the members of the IUBMB Adhered Bodies, is at the forefront in the search for new knowledge in these sciences that have as their ultimate goal the advancement of human well-being. The IUBMB encourages these members to undertake scientific initiatives while maintaining their commitment to society, to other researchers and to young students who are starting out in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
On the other hand, the Education Committee’s concrete vision is to improve pedagogy and discipline-based knowledge in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology through international collaboration. To this end, it not only sponsors a series of activities that contribute to this end, but also leads the organization of specific IUBMB Education Workshops around topics that are considered to be of strategic importance for education in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
