Antonio Rodríguez, 1st Prize in the 15th Entrepreneurship Ideas Competition

Dr. Antonio Rodríguez has been a researcher in Inorganic Chemistry at the IIQ since 2006, and a professor in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Seville.
He has been awarded First Prize in the Teaching and Research Staff category in the 15th US Entrepreneurship Ideas Competition, together with physicist Dr. Norge Cruz Hernández and chemist Dr. Ramón González Santos. The latter two are also researchers at the US.
The winning and patented initiative is 3DBones, an idea developed largely in the IIQ laboratories, consisting of the design of a multicomponent resin used as a consumable material for 3D printing by stereolithography. This project will allow the exact reproduction of parts of bone tissue from medical images, that is, providing personalized bone tissue from biocompatible and biodegradable materials.
Currently, Dr. Antonio Rodríguez, together with Dr. Norge Cruz and Dr. Ramón González, are conducting preclinical tests to subsequently carry out clinical trials of this material and thus be able to bring 3DBones to an operating table. This patented idea will contribute to improving bone reconstruction surgeries.
