The ICMS hosts the kick-off meeting of the European RATOCAT project

Seville, February 12, 2018. The Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS), belonging to the cicCartuja – a joint center CSIC-University of Seville-Junta de Andalucía – will hold tomorrow, February 13, the initial meeting of the European project RATOCAT (Rational design of highly effective photocatalysts with atomic-level control).

The objective of this project is the design of highly efficient photocatalysts for the production of hydrogen. This production, through heterogeneous photocatalysis from water and sunlight, is an interesting alternative from the industrial and environmental point of view.

The RATOCAT project is made up of research groups from the University College of Cork (Ireland), Delft University of Technology (Netherlands), the Almería Solar Platform and the ICMS. The event will be attended by the heads of the participating groups. The researcher Gerardo Colón will act as scientific manager of the ICMS at this meeting. RATOCAT is funded by the M-ERANet programme, a consortium of research organisations funded by the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 programme. This consortium is multidisciplinary in nature and is made up of research groups that will address everything from the theoretical study of catalysts to their implementation in medium-scale facilities.
