El cicCartuja organizes the 5th Future Scientists Conference

Seville, October 31, 2017. The Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Center (cicCartuja) is celebrating the fifth edition of the Future Scientists Conference, an outreach activity that is part of the Science and Technology Week.

The main objective of this project is to encourage scientific vocations among young people and, at the same time, recognize the three educational centers that won awards at the 15th Science Fair, held last May in Seville.

Participants will take a guided tour of the cicCartuja institutes and will then present their scientific work to the public at an event that will take place on November 17 in the cicCartuja assembly hall, starting at 11:30 a.m.

On this occasion, the centre that won the first prize was the IES Bécquer (Seville), with its project ‘Bioclimatic architecture and sustainable development’. With this work, the students intended to demonstrate that science can help us achieve a more sustainable and healthy lifestyle, acquiring habits such as recycling, extensive exploitation methods, ecological architecture or the use of renewable energies.

The jury of the XV Science Fair, composed of researchers belonging to the cicCartuja Rosalía Poyato (ICMS), Juan Manuel Benito (IIQ) and José Mª Ortega (IBVF), also agreed to award second prizes to the Colegio Alemán Alberto Durero (Seville) and the IES Leonardo da Vinci (Seville), who contributed works inspired by robotics and waves, respectively.
