November 8, 2017. Hernán Míguez, a researcher attached to the Institute of Materials Science of Seville, will give a talk this afternoon at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Seville entitled ‘Optical nanomaterials for optoelectronic devices’.
This activity is part of the proposals scheduled for the Science and Technology Week. The main reasons that motivate the use of optical nanomaterials in optoelectronic devices will be explained in detail. In addition, different examples of the design and integration of photonic crystals in devices such as perovskite solar cells, dye cells or light-emitting devices will be shown.
Hernán Míguez received his PhD from the Autonomous University of Madrid (2000) and then worked as a postdoctoral researcher for two years at the University of Toronto, in Canada. Since 2004, he has been the director of the Multifunctional Optical Materials group at the Institute of Materials Science in Seville, part of cicCartuja —a joint CSIC-University of Seville-Junta de Andalucía center—.
Last month, Míguez was awarded the “Royal Spanish Society of Physics – BBVA Foundation 2017” Prize in the Physics, Innovation and Technology category.
