Miguel Anaya Martín, from the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS), belonging to the Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Centre (cicCartuja), has been awarded an Optics and Photonics Education Scholarship by the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE).
SPIE is a non-profit organisation founded in 1955 with 264,000 members from 166 countries, which dedicates all its resources to the advancement of studies of light and its technological applications. It is noteworthy that this prestigious scholarship had only been obtained by nine Spaniards to date.
In addition to this recognition, Miguel Anaya received the European Materials Research Society (EMRS) Student Award on 4 May in Lille (France), an award that expands the list of achievements of this young scientist and whose financial endowment will allow him to continue expanding his training.
The research of this PhD student attached to the Multifunctional Optical Materials Group focuses on the design of optoelectronic devices based on perovskites. His studies range from the characterization of the fundamental optical properties of ABX3 materials to the modeling and manufacturing of devices in which different optical structures are integrated to give the perovskite new attributes.
At 28 years of age, and under the supervision of Prof. Hernán Míguez and Dr. Mauricio Calvo, his research articles have managed to reach the pages of several of the scientific publications with the highest impact in the area of materials science.
