On the evening of Monday, December 2, 2013, the President of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Professor Emilio Lora-Tamayo D´Ocón, presided over the solemn ceremony to present the Medals of Honor for the Promotion of Invention of the García Cabrerizo Foundation.
The Medals of Honor for the Promotion of Invention are awards given by the García Cabrerizo Foundation to recognize the professional merits of people who have contributed significantly to the development and promotion of invention, with the aim of significantly contributing to the social promotion of the Spanish inventor.
Miguel García Guerrero is the current director of the General CSIC Foundation, professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Seville, and former director of the Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Center. From the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis, Miguel García Guerrero continues to develop his fruitful work of promoting invention in processes of industrial, energy and environmental interest based on microalgae.
Together with Miguel García Guerrero, this year the García-Cabrerizo Foundation has recognized the career of engineer José Luis López Gómez, for being a promoter of innovation and technology applied to the service of railway transport and especially of Spanish technology for the manufacture of high-speed trains, as well as of the company FICOSA Internacional SA, based in Barcelona, official supplier and technological partner of the majority of vehicle manufacturers around the world.
