Carmusys international network is completed after hiring and training 15 young students

The exchange of knowledge with European value has become, in recent decades, one of the main tools for research groups that aspire to increase their scientific relevance. The Glycosystems Laboratory, a team linked to the Instituto de Investigaciones Químicas (IIQ), is among those groups that work, from collaboration and interdisciplinarity, in order to increase their presence at international level.

For this reason, since 2009, the Glycosystems Laboratory has organized a network of training through research, from which many young people have benefited, who have been able to broaden their knowledge in the area of biological chemistry and, specifically, in the role played by carbohydrates in biological processes.

Collaborative work with groups in France and Italy, through corresponding integrated and bilateral actions, gave rise to the core of the Carmusys project, a European training network (Initial Training Network), which is now nearing completion. The initiative, which has an industrial component, was channeled through the People program of the European Union’s 7th Framework Program, which approved the proposal and funded it until the end of 2012.

To learn more about this Carmusys network, we spoke with its coordinator, researcher Javier Rojo.
