For three days, from June 26 to 28, 2013, the Sylken Al-Andalus Palace Hotel in Seville will host the Meeting of the Spanish Catalysis Society (SECAT ’13), which will bring together some of the leading researchers in the field of catalysts. This event, which is held every two years, aims to share the most relevant scientific results produced in this field, while promoting the exchange of experiences and projects and fostering interpersonal and intergroup relations. The central theme of this edition will be “Catalysts and structured reactors”. According to the organizing committee, the aim is to “highlight the importance of the micro- and mesostructure of catalysts, as well as reactors and structured devices in catalytic processes and in their energy and environmental applications”.
Confirmed plenary speakers at this meeting include Professors Enrique Iglesia (Berkeley Catalysis Center, USA), Xenophon E. Verykios (University of Patras, Greece), Enrico Tronconi (Politecnico di Milano, Italy) and Vasile I. Pârvulescu (University of Bucharest, Romania). In addition, there will be contributions from several dozen national researchers, both senior and junior, who will be able to present their work in oral and poster presentations. Among this group of Spanish scientists, the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS), in charge of organizing this congress, together with the Spanish Catalysis Society (SECAT) and the University of Seville, will have a prominent presence. Not surprisingly, the President of the SECAT ’13 Organizing Committee will be CSIC Research Scientist Miguel Ángel Centeno, who is currently working at the ICMS.
As a parallel activity, the Meeting of the Spanish Catalysis Society will propose a Spanish-Italian Summer School, aimed at promoting the training of young researchers interested in expanding their knowledge of catalysis. This course will take place in the Hall of Degrees of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Seville between June 24 and 25, 2013, and will be led by José Antonio Odriozola, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Seville.
The pre-registration period for SECAT ’13 is now open, as well as the period for the submission of papers, which will last until February 17, 2013.
