For the second consecutive year, the Centro de Investigaciones Científicas Isla de la Cartuja (cicCartuja) participates in the Café con Ciencia, an informative activity framed in the program of the XII Science and Technology Week. Next Monday, November 5, cicCartuja will invite thirty high school students to share a breakfast with three scientists from the Institute of Chemical Research (IIQ), where they can learn about the work of a researcher and ask their questions about various scientific issues.
The Café con Ciencia is projected as a meeting point between young students and scientists or, in other words, between the future and the present of research. The aim of this activity is to encourage research vocation and to spread scientific culture through round tables and student participation. To this end, cicCartuja has prepared three sessions, in which researchers will address specific topics in chemistry and their respective careers. The researchers Antonio Rodríguez Delgado, Juan Manuel Benito Hernández and José Luis De Paz Carrera, all of them belonging to the IIQ, will be in charge of channeling these talks, in which current scientific and social aspects will be analyzed, such as the manufacture and recycling of plastics, or the discovery of new drugs in laboratories.
The tables, which will last one hour, will be held in the Board Room and in the Seminar on the second floor of cicCartuja, from 9:30 to 13:00.
