More than a hundred people, including university and non-university audiences, attended the Conference on Science Dissemination and Communication organized by the Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Center and the Faculty of Communication of the University of Seville.
A large group of scientific researchers and science communication professionals discussed the need to disseminate science as a service to society, promoting a simple and attractive discourse for the general public. Another key issue was the search for ways to reconcile scientific and journalistic languages, for which consensus was reached on a more participatory role for researchers and a more rigorous role for information professionals.
Finally, the conference devoted its last round table to rethink the means used in the popularization of science and its transfer from the workplace to the street. With examples based on the experience of the Seville Science Fair or the National Museum of Natural Sciences, the attendees were able to learn about the scientific initiatives that are organized for the enjoyment of society.
During the event, there was also time to talk about the incursion of the Internet and social networks in scientific dissemination, as well as to discuss career opportunities in this specialized field of information.
