On March 16, a group of 20 young scientists from the Marie Curie Initial Training Network-Harvest will visit the facilities of the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis of the Isla de La Cartuja Scientific Research Center. The objective of this meeting is to facilitate a meeting in Seville between the members of this training network for young scientific researchers.
This international group will visit the IBVF on its way through the Andalusian capital, which is due to the relevance of the institute as a research center in photosynthesis, a subject to which they dedicate their efforts from this network that brings together high quality research centers in the European Union with expertise in a wide range of disciplines but specifically focused on understanding the biological process of photoprotection. In addition, the scientific relationships of many of the Harvest research groups with IBVF groups have determined the selection of the Sevillian institute as the venue for the meeting.
Constant participation
As a sign of the fluid collaboration between IBVF scientists and some laboratories of the network, researchers José María Ortega and José Antonio Navarro, both from the IBVF, will give talks on their latest research in the field of photosynthesis, whose implications are intrinsically related to various aspects of life such as agriculture and food security, biodiversity and climate change, energy and biofuels. Specifically, Ortega will give the lecture “Photosynthetic Cytochrome c550. A redox protein with unknown redox function”, while Navarro’s lecture is entitled ‘Electron Transfer in Biological Systems’.
