Era7 Bioinformatics, an Andalusian company specialising in sequence analysis and new technologies, will present its services for mass sequencing in the Salón de Actos of the CicCartuja. The new techniques used in this field -454 from Roche, Solexa from Illumina, SOLiD from Applied Biosystems, Ion Torrent from Life Technologies and Pacific Bioscience- make it possible to obtain a huge amount of sequences at low cost, so their applications are numerous in different fields of research and industry: Biofuel production, analysis of transcriptional networks, metagenomics and metatranscriptomics, analysis of amplicons of operons related to nitrogen fixation, sequencing of new bacterial genomes, plant transcriptomics, analysis of metabolic pathways, among others.

Dr. Raquel Tobes, Research Director of Era7 Bioinformatics, Marina Manrique, Project Manager, and Dr. Eduardo Pareja, General Manager of the company, will analyse these new techniques and their concrete application in the research lines of the centre.

The Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis has organised this presentation for 30 June from 11:30 to 13:30.
