CicCartuja obtains more than seven million euros in the INNPLANTA Program public call for proposals

The Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Centre (cicCartuja), a joint centre of the CSIC, the University of Seville and the Regional Government of Andalusia, has benefited from grants from the INNPLANTA Programme, which is granted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation to entities installed in Science and Technology Parks. The economic contribution, which amounts to 7.66 million euros, will be used for the expansion of the cicCartuja, which includes the annex building currently being built by the CSIC on Avenida Américo Vespucio in Seville, as well as the reform of the current one. The INNPLANTA Programme is part of a series of scientifictechnological actions aimed at public and private entities, with the aim of improving the infrastructures of the Science and Technology Parks, acquiring equipment and carrying out feasibility studies to implement advances of this nature. On the other hand, the aid received will contribute very positively to the future development of the Campus of Excellence  Andalucía Tech, a university project promoted by the Universities of Malaga and Seville, in which cicCartuja participates with the three Institutes that make it up. The proposal to obtain these grants has been made through the Cartuja 93 Science and Technology Park. The budget awarded to cicCartuja will be financed in two years, between 2010 and 2011, receiving in the first year about 4.33 million euros, and in the second, about 3.32 million. Part of these concessions are subject to certain technical-economic conditions, as they will be administered as 15-year loans at preferential interest and repayable advances from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
