The monastery of La Cartuja, the Seville headquarters of the International University of Andalusia (UNIA), will host the course “Ribonucleic acid. From the origin of life to biomedicine”, directed by Agustín Vioque Peña*. The aim of this conference is, firstly, to provide an overview of the “world of RNA”, which will help to understand its various biological functions. Secondly, the aim is to present the specific possibilities of ribonucleic acid in biomedicine, either as an active tool in certain therapies or as a drug target.
This course, which is part of the official postgraduate program of the UNIA, will have a heterogeneous teaching staff, coming from different Spanish centers and experts in different fields of biology and biomedicine. Their lectures can be especially useful for students in their final years or graduates in disciplines related to life sciences, such as Biology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or Medicine.
