Seville, 24/1/2011. The Centro de Investigaciones Científicas Isla de la Cartuja (cicCartuja) will start next March the Scholar’s Workshop, a training activity aimed at its youngest researchers, specifically at doctoral students who have obtained the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) or have completed their Master’s thesis; or researchers who have obtained their doctorate less than a year ago. This activity is entitled “Develop your ability to communicate in science” and is aimed at strengthening the techniques of expression, communication and dissemination of those scientists who have just begun their research career. The aim of this workshop is none other than to cover the training deficiencies of the Postgraduate, Master and PhD courses, which do not usually offer lectures or seminars on the communication skills that researchers should deploy. Tasks that, in the end, are of considerable relevance for the daily work of scientists, since they have the mission to disseminate and disseminate the results obtained in their research.cicCartuja launches the Scholar’s Workshop to strengthen the communication skills of researchers.
Thus, the Scholar’s Workshop is articulated around four specific objectives: a) How to write a scientific article, b) How to prepare a research project, c) How to write a grant application, and d) How to prepare an oral presentation. The methodology followed in this Workshop is based on an important interaction between professors and students, so the number of students enrolled will be limited to a maximum of 15 people. Therefore, the number of students enrolled will be limited to a maximum of 15 people, with the aim of offering personalized training by different tutors, who will supervise the evolution of the students during the two periods of the Workshop.
The first phase of the Scholarship Holder Workshop will take place between March 30 and 31, 2011, and will consist of lectures and seminars given by experts in the different subjects to be covered. At the end of this period, tasks will be distributed (writing a scientific article, research project or grant application, as well as preparing an oral communication) among the students, who will have to carry them out following the guidelines set by the professors. Students will have at least two months to carry out the tasks assigned to them, and must present and exhibit their work starting in May.Registration for the Scholar’s Workshop must be made before February 2 through the “Dissemination” section of the cicCartuja website, or through this link.
