The University of Seville hosts a conference to reflect on the role of Social Councils

‘The Social Councils: a bridge between society and the University’ is the title of the conference that will take place in the Paraninfo of the Rectorate of the University of Seville on 15 and 16 April. Political, trade union and university representatives will participate in this meeting, with the aim of debating the role played by the Social Councils as university intermediary bodies. The conference will be divided into various round tables and meetings, which will address issues related to the financing and governance of universities, the importance of innovation and research in the field of business or possible improvements in the education system, in order to achieve higher levels of excellence and competitiveness.

Miguel Ángel de la Rosa, Director of cicCartuja, will speak at the round table entitled ‘The University and Business: funding, governance, pact for education’, which will be held in the auditorium of the University of Seville on Friday 16 April at ten o’clock in the morning. Also participating in this discussion group will be José López Barneo (Director of the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville), Joaquín Luque Rodríguez (Rector of the University of Seville), José María Pacheco Guardiola (President of the Konecta Group) and Lothar Siemens Hernández (President of the Social Council of Las Palmas). The conference will close on the same day with a speech by Cristina Garmendia, Minister of Science and Innovation.
