On May 26 and 27, the Materials Science Institute of Seville (a joint CSIC-University of Seville center), part of cicCartuja, is organizing the 6th General Assembly of the CENIT ARTDECO (Advances in Technological Coatings for Decorative Applications) technological development project, which is of a national nature and brings together experts and companies active in nanometric applications to obtain new surface properties in materials. This meeting serves to recapitulate and share the advances obtained in recent months in the CENIT ARTDECO Project, whose main objective is “to develop new processes that allow obtaining innovative, competitive and environmentally clean decorative-functional coatings, using the most modern techniques of surface treatment and characterization”.
The Assembly consists of presentations and poster sessions in which the main research results and industrial developments achieved will be presented. Among them, it is worth mentioning the contribution of the Surfaces, Interfaces and Thin Films research group, specialized in the development of advanced functionalizations at nanometric scale to provide materials with new properties, mainly in oxide, polymeric and hybrid (organic/inorganic) layers. Not surprisingly, this research team, belonging to the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS), is technologically responsible for the AVI activity (Plasma Polymerization Processes), where throughout the development of the project great progress has been made in obtaining customized colored layers on substrates of different types, such as polypropylene or ceramics.
In addition to ICMS researchers, the Assembly brings together participants from different technology centers, universities and Spanish companies, as well as collaborating companies interested in the application of these studies. The conference is held in morning and afternoon sessions at the cicCartuja headquarters (Avda. Américo Vespucio, 49, Seville) and is supported by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Center for Technological and Industrial Development (CDTI).Together with ICMS researchers, the Assembly brings together participants from different technology centers, universities and Spanish companies, as well as collaborating companies interested in the application of these studies.
