The University of Zaragoza confers honorary doctorate to Manuel Losada

21/06/2010. The Paraninfo of the University of Zaragoza will host today, from 11 am, the investiture ceremony as Doctor honoris causa of Manuel Losada Villasante, Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Seville and one of the founding scientists of the current Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF). In this way, the Aragonese academic institution, with which Losada has a special research relationship, wanted to recognize his “fundamental contribution to the modernization of science in Spain” and his “contributions in the field of photosynthetic assimilation of nitrate and other biochemical systems of energy transformation”.

Manuel Losada, 1995 Prince of Asturias Award for Scientific Research, will be presented by Dr. Carlos Gómez-Moreno and Dr. María Luisa Peleato, who will act as sponsors. Together with Losada, the University of Zaragoza will also confer honorary doctorates to Professors Michel Prieur and Frank T. Avignone, internationally renowned scientists in the fields of Environmental Law and Physics, respectively.
