The cicCartuja presents its two new services, the Project and Communication Office

On December 22nd, the Conference Hall of the Centro de Investigaciones Científicas Isla de la Cartuja (cicCartuja) hosted the presentation of two new services that will support the daily work carried out by its scientists: the Projects Office and the Communication Office. The first of these, the Projects Office, was created with the intention of offering greater effectiveness in the management of projects and grants. This service will be in charge of complying with the requirements of the funding entities, through the control, follow-up and justification of expenses. It will also try to advise researchers on how to obtain financial resources, informing them about calls for proposals. As Melania Rivers explained during the presentation, the main reason for the creation of this Project Office is none other than to facilitate the daily work of the scientists belonging to the three cicCartuja Institutes, so that, in this way, they can reduce the time dedicated to administrative matters. On the other hand, the Communication Office has the mission to disseminate the scientific activities of cicCartuja and to give coverage to the dissemination and popularization of science in events such as the Science Fair or the Science and Technology Week. The main objective of this service is to increase the internal and external visibility of the three cicCartuja Institutes through their websites, the media and social networks. The Office is headed by José Romero and Leticia Álvarez. The e-mail address available is , which can be used by all cicCartuja researchers who wish to be informed, for example, of the articles published in high impact journals, the scientific projects in which they participate, the patents registered, or the courses and congresses organized.In addition to these services, yesterday’s event also served to present the Intranet of cicCartuja, which is now available at the following address: https://intranet.ciccartuja.es. Rafael Álvarez, Head of the IT Service, was in charge of presenting this electronic resource, which was created with the intention of facilitating administration, IT and maintenance procedures for all the Center’s personnel. Through the same user ID and passwords already used for the CSIC Intranet, cicCartuja users will be able to make different requests, reserve resources (such as the Assembly Hall or the Seminar) or access internal documents of the Center.
Finally, the Director of cicCartuja, Miguel Ángel de la Rosa, summarized the scientific activity undertaken by the Center throughout 2010. In this balance, the number of projects, contracts, agreements and grants obtained by the three cicCartuja Institutes, as well as the dissemination, transfer or disclosure actions, among other aspects, were counted. Also, the internal and external objectives of the institution were distinguished, while the new web pages of the IBVF and IIQ, which are in their last phase of implementation, were shown. Finally, Miguel Ángel de la Rosa thanked all the professionals of cicCartuja for their efforts in a year marked by the crisis and budget cuts, and encouraged them to continue this work with the same enthusiasm.
