CicCartuja promotes dialogue between students and researchers through the Café con Ciencia (Coffee with Science)

The Centro de Investigaciones Científicas Isla de la Cartuja (cicCartuja), a joint center of the CSIC, the University of Seville and the Junta de Andalucía, will celebrate next November 7th the Café con Ciencia, an initiative organized by the Andalusian Foundation for the Dissemination of Innovation and Knowledge (Descubre Foundation) in collaboration with the Andalusian Society for the Dissemination of Science (SADC) and the main research, innovation and dissemination centers in Andalusia, and funded by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT). This activity, aimed at high school students, promotes the rapprochement between young people and science professionals in talks on topics of current interest. In this way, the aim is to encourage scientific vocation and motivate students to share their concerns and interests with researchers in a close way.

The talks prepared by cicCartuja for November 7th are three. These will be given by researchers from the Center’s three institutes: the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF), the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS) and the Institute of Chemical Research (IIQ). Their talks will deal with topics such as the fight against HIV, the possibilities posed by transgenic crops in the agriculture of the future and the various uses of electron microscopy.
