With the aim of showcasing the work carried out by scientists and disseminating microscopy, the group responsible for the Al-NanoFunc project, in which researchers from the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS) participate, has announced the 1st Al-NanoPhoto Scientific Photography Contest. This contest aims to link science and art, as well as to bring the studies carried out in the field of nanomaterials closer to a non-specialized public, who will be able to discover the beauty hidden in microparticles, which are invisible to the human eye and therefore unnoticeable in our everyday environment.
This contest is open to anyone of legal age who submits their own images that have not been awarded prizes in other contests and that are included in the theme of the contest: electron microscopy, “A whole art”. The photographs, which will be related to scientific research, must be submitted in digital format, accompanied by an informative text, between September 17 and October 5, 2012. Those interested may send their proposals through the following website: www.al-nanofunc.eu/al-nanophoto.
The jury will award the author of the best photograph with a Kindle Fire e-book, valuing the originality, artistic and technical quality of the image, its scientific content and its informative description. The same gift will also be given to the photo that receives the most votes on the Internet, through the Al-NanoFunc website (http://www.al-nanofunc.eu/).
After the jury’s evaluation, a series of images submitted to the contest will be permanently exhibited at cicCartuja, between October 22 and November 11, coinciding with the celebration of Science and Technology Week.
