The Medals of Honour for the Promotion of Invention are Distinctions awarded by the García Cabrerizo Foundation to recognise the merits of people who have made an important contribution to the development and promotion of invention.
Miguel García Guerrero is the current director of the Fundación General CSIC, professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Seville, and former director of the Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Centre. From the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis, Miguel García Guerrero continues to develop his fruitful work of promoting invention in processes of industrial, energy and environmental interest based on microalgae.
Together with Miguel García Guerrero, this year the García-Cabrerizo Foundation has recognised the career of the company FICOSA Internacional SA, based in Barcelona, official supplier and technological partner of the majority of vehicle manufacturers around the world, as well as the engineer José Luis López Gómez, for being a promoter of innovation and technology applied to the service of railway transport and especially of Spanish technology for the manufacture of high-speed trains. All of them will receive the Medal of Honour for the Promotion of Invention this afternoon.
The solemn ceremony to present the awards will take place in the Auditorium of the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) located at Calle Serrano 117, Madrid, on Monday 2 December 2013 at 7:30 p.m.
