On May 18, 2015, the third edition of the International Day of Fascination with Plants will be celebrated simultaneously in more than 54 countries, under the auspices of the European Plant Science Organization (EPSO).
In this context, the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF) organized an event where different professionals (artists, scientists, farmers, journalists) made brief presentations revealing their vision of plants and their role in the future of society. After a break, where the speakers could freely discuss, a question period was opened, where the guests openly debated all the topics presented.
The event was open to all audiences and intended to be a meeting point for different points of view on plant biology, ranging from the most basic research to the cultivation of fruits and vegetables for consumption. Plant blindness is a modern social phenomenon in which citizens ignore the role that plants play in their lives, living apart from nature. Bringing society closer to the plant world and explaining its existential importance in our world was one of the main objectives of this round table.
Admission was open to all public over 16 years of age.
