The 5th Congress of the Spanish Society of Ceramics and Glass (SECV) will take place from 5 to 7 October 2016 in Seville. The motto chosen for this edition is “Ceramics and glass: tradition, modernity and challenges for the future”.
The event will serve as a meeting point for researchers and professionals in the ceramics industry to present the latest scientific and technological advances applied to this field, as well as to address future challenges and problems specific to this sector.
During these days, a series of renowned specialists from various European universities and research centres will give plenary lectures, and various parallel activities will be held, such as poster sessions and a round table on “R&D&I in ceramics and glass in Spain”. The programme also includes the Scientific and Technical Photography Contest for Ceramics and Glass, as well as the Student Contest, whose winner will represent Spain at the Student Speech Contest of the European Ceramics Society Congress (ECERS 2017), to be held in Istanbul in 2017.
The Honour Committee of the congress includes the presence of various authorities, such as the Minister of Economy and Knowledge of the Andalusian Government, Antonio Ramírez de Arellano, the Mayor of Seville, Juan Espadas, or the Magnificent Rector of the University of Seville, Miguel Ángel Castro. Alfonso Caballero Martínez, Director of the Institute of Materials Science, is also among its members.
Likewise, the Organising Committee is chaired by Diego Gómez García, and includes, among others, Joaquín Ramírez Rico, Felipe Gutiérrez Mora, Pedro J. Sánchez Soto and Francisco J. Gotor Martínez, all of them researchers attached to the ICMS. Manuel Ocaña Jurado acts as a member of the Scientific and Technological Committee.
The opening session will take place in the Auditorium of the University of Seville. The rest of the congress will take place in the Mexico Pavilion, the current headquarters of the Postgraduate and Doctoral studies at the University of Seville.
