The Royal Society of Chemistry, through its Journal of Materials Chemistry A, has invited Mauricio Calvo to contribute to its special issue Emerging Investigators 2017.
Mauricio Calvo is a senior scientist at the CSIC and a researcher attached to the Multifunctional Optical Materials group at the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS), part of the Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Centre (cicCartuja).
Perovskite solar cells have revolutionised the field of photovoltaics. In addition to the ease with which they can be manufactured, which has allowed the addition of new functionalities to photovoltaic cells, especially when the manufacturing process is carried out by solution, due to the high levels of photoconversion efficiencies they achieve.
In their article, which is a review in the field of ABX3 perovskites, they describe the different strategies from the point of view of materials chemistry that allow controlling the spectral absorption of ABX3 perovskite layers, as well as the modifications they produce in the visual appearance of solar cells.
