cicCartuja awards Future Scientists at the 16th Science Fair

F. Javier Rojo Marcos, Director of cicCartuja, presented the sixth edition of the Future Scientists Award last Friday, May 4, at the Seville Exhibition and Congress Palace (FIBES) during the XVI Science Fair.

The jury for the award was composed of Gisela M. Arzac Di Tomaso (ICMS), José María Ortega (IBVF), and Juan Manuel Benito (IIQ). They all visited the stands one by one and evaluated the projects presented by the Secondary and High School centers. The jury’s decision was as follows:

Award: Activate your brain with toys

IES Martín Rivero de Ronda (Málaga)

The Jury rewards the scientific quality and rigor of the study developed by the ESO students on the influence that the use of toys from the 60s, 70s and 80s has on the development and stimulation of different brain areas.

1st runner-up prize: ¡TIEMBLA! The Earth is burning…

IES Híspalis (Sevilla)

The Jury values ​​the communicative capacity, the quality of the contents and the expository development of the project whose theme is plate tectonics and volcanology.

2nd runner-up prize: Laboratorio Fractal y Biomimésis

IES Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer (Sevilla)

The Jury recognizes the expository quality, the communication capacity and the practical development of abstract concepts with examples from nature, and technological applications with the potential to improve the quality of life of citizens.

The Future Scientists Award is €500 for the best scientific dissemination project presented at the Fair stands. The endowment of the two runner-up prizes is €250.

Students are also invited to present their projects to cicCartuja researchers and the general public at the Future Scientists Conference, which will be held during Science Week in November 2018.
