The company Elsevier and the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) have organized the second edition of the ‘Reaxys RSEQ Early Career Researcher Award’ for young researchers who are currently undertaking a doctoral program, or who have completed it in 2017 or 2018 and who are also members of the RSEQ.
To be eligible for the award, applicants had to submit a short essay describing the project that is the subject of their research within the field of chemistry in which they are working. The research fields accepted were: Life Sciences; Medicinal and Organic Chemistry; Materials Sciences; Industrial and Inorganic Chemistry; Analytical, Environmental, Physical, Computational and Theoretical Chemistry; Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry; Electrochemistry and Energy-related Chemistry.
A jury appointed by the RSEQ and Elsevier evaluated the works based on scientific innovation and originality, the impact and importance of the research field, the clarity and integrity of the work, and evidence of the results achieved.
The second prize went to Javier Ramos Soriano who completed his doctoral thesis at the Institute of Chemical Research, attached to cicCartuja, under the direction of Drs. Javier Rojo and José Juan Reina, whose defense was held on April 6, 2017.
Accepting the award has entailed participation in the Award Ceremony at the XV Symposium of Young Researchers held this week in Toledo where he gave an oral presentation (see photo of the award ceremony).
