Dr. Alberto Jiménez Solano from ICMS has received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award that the University of Seville grants each year to doctors who have defended their thesis in the academic year immediately preceding each call.
Alberto’s thesis entitled “Design of optical absorption and emission of nanomaterials in controlled photonic environments” was directed by Prof. Hernán Míguez and Dr. Juan F. Galisteo and was defended on June 23, 2017.
It deals with the control of the optical properties of nanomaterials through their integration into photonic structures. These studies open a new path for the realization of lighting devices with properties on demand, as well as for new structures in the field of solar energy.
Dr. Jiménez has also been awarded for his work by the specialized group of Nanoscience and molecular materials (NanoMatMol) of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ) and the Royal Spanish Society of Physics (RSEF). He received the award last July during the XXXVII Biennial of the RSEF.
Alberto Jiménez has developed his research career in the Multifunctional Optical Materials group of the ICMS.
