The cicCartuja has presented the ninth edition of the Future Scientists Award on Thursday, May 11 at 12:30 p.m. in the FORO DE LA CIENCIA space, at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Sevilla (FIBES) during the 21st Science Fair.
The award has the general objective of fostering scientific vocations and promoting the interest of students in research and, specifically, that of highlighting talented young people, their teachers and their centers, making their achievements known and encouraging them to continue with their participation in the field of science and technology.
The Future Scientists Award is endowed with €600 for the best scientific dissemination project presented at the Fair stands, in addition, two second prizes of €300 will be awarded. Students will also be invited to present their projects to cicCartuja researchers and the general public at the Future Scientists Conference, which will be held during Science Week in November 2023.
The jury that will decide the award is made up of three prestigious researchers from cicCartuja.
In this year’s edition, they are Gisela M. Arzac Di Tomaso, from the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS), José María Ortega, from the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF) and Antonio Pizzano Mancera from the Institute of Chemical Research (IIQ). They all visited the stands and evaluated the projects presented by the Secondary and High School centers.
Thus, it was established that the awards would go to:
– cicCartuja Award for Future Scientists for the IES Gran Capitán/IES Martín Rivero stand, with its project “TV and Youtube: In search of new research”.
– First runner-up prize for the IES Torre de los Guzmanes stand, with its project “And life goes on…”.
– Second runner-up prize for the IES Ciudad Jardín stand, with its project “Technology within your reach”.
