New Opportunities and Greater Prizes for the cicCartuja Ebro-Foods Award: Now with an Agri-Food Category!

At the last meeting of the jury of the cicCartuja Ebro-Foods Award, the following changes were announced that will take place from the next edition, the XV, with the aim of increasing its scope:

  1. New Agri-Food Category: The main prize or one of the second prizes will be awarded to a work on agri-food. This category will be open to all Andalusian centres working in this discipline. To this end, a specific annual call for research in agri-food will be launched, independent of the general call for cicCartuja, which will continue as until now.
  2. Increase in the Financial Endowment: The President of Ebro Foods, Antonio Hernández Callejas, has decided to increase the amount of the prize to 25,000 euros. Thus, the first prize will be endowed with 15,000 euros, while the two second prizes will continue to be 5,000 euros each. This change positions the cicCartuja Ebro Foods Award as one of the best endowed and most prestigious in the field of research in Spain.

At the same meeting, the following decisions were made regarding the 2023 award winners:

  1. 2023 cicCartuja – Ebro Foods Main Research Award: Endowed with ten thousand euros, it was awarded to Elena Cabello Olmo, from the Institute of Materials Science of Seville, for being the first author of the article entitled “Inkjet-Printed and Nanopatterned Photonic Phosphor Motifs with Strongly Polarized and Directional Light-Emission”, published in the journal Advanced Functional Materials.
