Professor José Antonio Odriozola, professor in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Seville, has been named Honorary Professor of the Beijing Forestry University (BjFU). This prestigious recognition reflects the impact of Professor Odriozola’s research in sustainable chemistry and circular economy technologies at an international level, opening up strategic opportunities for collaboration with universities in China.
The recognition took place during the Global Ecological Governance (Nansen) Conference held at the Chinese university, which this year was held under the motto ‘Ecological Governance and Sustainable Development’. The meeting was attended by more than 200 international students and researchers.
Professor José Antonio Odriozola is an expert in the field of catalysis for the production of biofuels from biomass. Alongside him, BjFU President Li Zhaohu also recognized as Honorary Professor the researcher Riccardo Valentini, Professor of Forest Ecology at the University of Tuscia (Italy), a recognized expert in the field of global climate change research.
The awards ceremony took place at a public event at the BjFU, attended by the teaching staff and numerous students. After the awards ceremony, the two researchers were invited to give lectures. Professor Odriozola gave a lecture entitled ‘A Career in Catalysis: Forty Years in Love with Science and Beyond’.
After their presentations, the two professors engaged in a discussion with the participating professors and students about the content presented, with special attention to aspects such as the carbon cycle, ecology and the transformation of residual biomass into sustainable fuel.
