The new president of the Specialized Group on Inorganic Chemistry (GEQI) of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry, Professor Alfonso Caballero Martínez, has a degree in Chemistry and a PhD from the University of Seville. During his predoctoral stage in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Seville, he acquired knowledge and experience in the field of Surface Science and Heterogeneous Catalysis, in particular in catalytic systems for application in petroleum naphtha reforming processes to obtain high-octane gasoline. In addition to the use of preparation techniques for these systems, it is worth highlighting the experience acquired in techniques such as photoelectron spectroscopy or X-ray absorption (XAS).
Since his return to the Department of Inorganic Chemistry and the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (Joint Center CSIC-University of Seville), he has combined research and teaching tasks with management, holding the positions of Director of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry (1999-2007) and Director of the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (2009-2019).
