A four-year doctoral thesis contract is available in the field of the synthesis and processing of semiconductor nanomaterials for photovoltaic and LED applications. The project is titled ‘Photonic design of optoelectronic devices based on perovskite quantum dot solids’ and is funded by the State Research Agency. The project will be conducted in the laboratories of the Multifunctional Optical Materials Group at the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS), which has extensive experience in supervising doctoral theses and a proven track record of excellence in training young researchers. The tasks involved in the contract require a profile oriented towards the preparation and characterisation of new materials, with a focus on chemical, physical or physico-chemical aspects. The successful candidate will receive training in a variety of preparation techniques, including liquid phase synthesis, chemical vapour deposition, thermal evaporation and sputtering. Both the host group and the ICMS possess the necessary techniques for the advanced optoelectronic characterisation of optoelectronic materials and devices (e.g. solar simulators, impedance spectroscopy, fluorimeters, spectrophotometers and ultrafast spectroscopy). The project offers the possibility of a three-month stay at an international research centre.
Interested individuals must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Engineering or a related subject, as well as a Master’s degree in a subject related to the topic of the call (e.g. Chemistry, Physics, Physical Chemistry, Materials Science, Nanoscience, Nanotechnology or Energy). Applicants must be Spanish citizens or citizens of another EU member state, or have legal residence in Spain.
Interested applicants should contact Hernán Míguez (), attaching their CV and academic transcripts for both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
