The Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Centre welcomes four educational centres to reward their scientific projects

The Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Centre has organised the cicCartuja Young Science Awards, which recognised projects from three secondary schools and awarded an honourable mention to a primary school.

The centre’s director, Noureddine Khiar, highlighted the importance of science in society. Similarly, Guadalupe Jiménez, representing the Science Fair where the projects were presented, highlighted the award given to CEIP Ángeles Martín Mateo, as it was the first time it had been awarded to a primary school.

The second runner-up prize was awarded to IES Gil de Zático, in Torreperogil, for its Zati-RC Competition Vehicle project. The first runner-up prize went to IES Polígono Sur, in Seville, for its Las Fuerzas Invisibles de la Naturaleza (The Invisible Forces of Nature) project. Finally, IES María Inmaculada, in Mairena del Alcor, received the first prize for its project La Ciencia de la Feria (The Science of the Fair).

María Dolores Taranilla, a teacher at IES Inmaculada, took advantage of the gala to announce that her school had been chosen to represent Seville at the Bilbao Science Fair.
