Around 150 predoctoral researchers will present the results of their experimental work to promote scientific cooperation in Agricultural Sciences in Andalusia.
The meeting will take place on March 12 and 13 at the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF) in Seville, a joint center of the CSIC and the University of Seville.
The Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF) will host on March 12 and 13, 2026, the third edition of the Agro-Hub Andalucía PhD Students Meeting. This meeting, aimed at predoctoral researchers from CSIC’s own and joint centers, has the objective of presenting the results derived from their experimental work and promoting scientific cooperation in the field of Agricultural Sciences in Andalusia.
The event, which has more than 150 registered participants, will bring together researchers from six CSIC centers in Andalusia: the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF, CSIC–University of Seville), the Zaidín Experimental Station (EEZ, CSIC), the Institute of Sustainable Agriculture (IAS, CSIC), the Institute of Fats (IG, CSIC), the Institute of Natural Resources and Agrobiology of Seville (IRNAS, CSIC), and the Subtropical and Mediterranean Horticulture Institute La Mayora (IHSM-La Mayora, CSIC–University of Málaga). Researchers from the Institute of Agricultural and Fisheries Research and Training (IFAPA) will also participate in the meeting.
The scientific program includes 32 oral presentations and more than 65 posters, addressing topics aligned with current challenges in the biotechnological and agri-food sector. These include the biochemistry and molecular biology of cyanobacteria, microalgae and plants, crop genetic improvement, efficient management of water resources, environmental sustainability, plant–microorganism interactions, and the valorization of agricultural by-products.
This third edition of the Andalucía Agro-Hub PhD Students Meeting will provide a space for knowledge exchange and the generation of synergies between research groups, as well as contribute to the development of the scientific careers of predoctoral researchers.
What is Agro-Hub
Agro-Hub Andalucía is an initiative that connects CSIC centers dedicated to agricultural and agri-food sciences in Andalusia. Its objective is to foster scientific collaboration, promote joint projects, and strengthen the training of young researchers in key areas such as plant biotechnology, agricultural sustainability, and crop improvement. Its activities include scientific meetings and exchange events between researchers.
According to its 2025 report, CSIC has 19 research centers in Agricultural Sciences, with a total of 195 research groups and 2,447 projects currently active.
About IBVF
The Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF) is a joint center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Seville dedicated to the study of plant biology, with special attention to photosynthesis, metabolism, and the biotechnology of cyanobacteria, microalgae, and plants. Its research aims to understand the fundamental processes of plant life and contribute to the development of biotechnological solutions for more sustainable and efficient agriculture.
This activity is supported by the Excellence Grant MaX-CSIC [DEEP-MAX-2024_IBVF_2].
