cicCartuja hosts a meeting to foster scientific and academic collaboration with the Universidad de la Costa

During the sessions, organised in collaboration with the three cicCartuja Institutes (IBVF, ICMS and IIQ), the centres’ scientific and training capabilities were presented

The Isla de la Cartuja Scientific Research Centre (cicCartuja), a public research centre shared by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Regional Government of Andalusia and the University of Seville (US), has promoted a space for academic and scientific collaboration and exchange with the Universidad de la Costa (Barranquilla, Colombia) through its Master’s and Doctoral Programme in Sustainable Development.

To this end, on Friday, 2 October, cicCartuja organised, in collaboration with the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis (IBVF-CSIC-US), the Institute of Materials Science of Seville (ICMS-CSIC-US) and the Institute of Chemical Research (IIQ-CSIC-US), sessions to present and share the capabilities and strengths of the four centres, as well as the University of Seville’s specific doctoral and postgraduate programmes.

Specifically, Ana Cruz, head of cicCartuja’s Internationalisation and Knowledge Transfer Unit, represented our centre on behalf of its director, Cecilia Gotor Martínez, presenting its facilities and the impact of the research carried out there. Along the same lines, the deputy director of the IBVF, Irene García, the deputy director of the ICMS, Rafael Álvarez, and the director of the IIQ, Joaquín López, explored in greater depth the research lines and infrastructure available at each institute, as well as their main capabilities.

For its part, the University of Seville, as the main academic institution co-owning the research centres, detailed its main doctoral and postgraduate programmes related to sustainable development, represented by the director of the US International Graduate School, Guadalupe Trigueros, and the director of the US International Doctoral School, Francisco Javier Montilla.

Likewise, Heidis Patricia Cano, director of the Master’s and Doctoral Programme in Sustainable Development at the Universidad de la Costa, presented the university’s academic and research offerings and, specifically, the programme she leads, which is aimed at training researchers capable of addressing different environmental, social and economic problems from a holistic and multidisciplinary perspective.
